Short note on Internal Recruitment

Recruitment is the process of finding prospective candidate for the organisation.(simply)

                       

In other other way it is the process of attracting or inspiring large number of candidates to apply for vacant job position.
It is a positive process as large number of employee join the organisation and get to know about the organisation .

There are two types of recruitment :
  1. Internal Recruitment.

                       
  2. External recruitment


                  

Internal Recruitment

It is the process of finding out people inside the organisation for vacant job position.

Internal recruitment is of three types:
  

 1. Promotion :- 

     Promotion refers to shifting of employees from one job position to another job position with higher authorities,responsibilities and pay.

  2. Transfer :-

        Transfer refers to shifting of employees from one job position to another job position with same authorities, responsibilities and pay.

   3. Layoff :-

       Layoff refers to temporary separation of employees from their employers.


  Now we will discuss about some advantages and disadvantages of internal recruitment.

**Advantages of Internal Recruitment:-
  • Internal Recruitment is cost saving ,less time consuming. (as employees are selected within the organisation)
  • Internal Recruitment reduces labour turnover.(because employees are already familiar with the rules)


***(Labor turnover, also known as staffing turnover, refers to the ratio of a number of employees who leave a company through attrition, dismissal or resignation to the total number of employees on the payroll in that period.)

  • In Internal Recruitment there is no need for Induction and orientation training. (because employees are already familiar with the organisation)
  • Internal recruitment results in inflexible culture. 

**Disadvantages  of internal recruitment:-

  • In Internal Recruitment there no new fresh idea.
  • Internal Recruitment is not suitable for new organisations.   (because in New organisation there are not any employee from which we can recruit.)


  • In internal Recruitment there is limited choice.
  • The employee may become lethargic due to time bound promotions.
