1.Authority and Responsiblity
Guys let we start with a query that what is authority and responsibility?*(These are simple but important concepts)
Authority refers to power to take any action or decision in an organisation.Authority can be delegated.
(Delegation of authority refers to transfer of authority and responsibility from superior to subordinate. )
Responsibility refers to obligation to completr the given job on time. It can be delegated but not fully.
According to this principle of management, Henri Fayol advocates there must be balance or parity between authority and responsibility in an organisation.
Authority=Responsibility
Now question may arise here that if in case authority and responsibility is not equal then what may happen.
• If in case authority > responsibility then, the power can be misused by the subordinate.
• And if in case responsibility > authority then, the job can't be complete on given time.
A firm should build safeguard against misuse or abuse of managerial power. Manager should have the right to punish the subordinate for wildfully not obeying a legitimate order but only after sufficient opportunity has been given to a subordinate for giving his or her argument.
