Principle of Division of work
As name suggests Division of work that mean a work is divided between group of people simple.
Guys Let me explain with an example :-
Example :- At home when your mom wants to cook something like she wants to cook ladyfingers then to reduce the workload she divides work as
* She will send you to buy ladyfingers and it's seasonings.
*Next, she will guide or say to maid to wash and cut those ladyfingers.
* Nextly your mom will prepare those ladyfingers.
Now ,here your mom has applied an management principle which she may not be knowing.(now after reading this please explain to her☺)
Now what, Henri Fayol advocates that in the organisation the whole work is identified and divided into smaller units and each units of work is assigned to the person according to knowledge, experience and capabilities.
Each unit of work is called a job.
Each unit of work is called a job.
Advantages of applying this principle:-
- As in this principle, work is assigned to specialists so this leads to specialisation.
- It improves efficiency. ( As preferred person is specialist in its field so it reduces wastage of resources.)
- No duplication of work.(each worker is provided different unit of job)
Disadvantages for violating this principle:-
- No specialisation .
- Lack of efficiency.
- Chances of duplication of work.
KEYWORDS :-
- Dividing the work in similar units creating departments.
- Allocation of work as per capabilities.
- Base of functional foreman techniques.
- Base of delegation concept.
