The purpose of studying methods is to discover the best way to accomplish a task.

There are several ways to get the job done. There are several parameters to determine the best method. All activities, from procurement of raw materials to delivery of the final product to the customer, are part of the method study. Taylor used method studies to design his assembly line concept.

Ford Motor Company took advantage of this concept. Already used by car companies. The overall goal of the exercise is to minimize production costs and maximize quality and customer satisfaction. Many techniques such as process diagrams and operations research are used for this purpose.

To design a car, the assembly includes assembly line production, workflow, space for people, machinery and raw materials

and so on. This is all part of the methods study.

Method study is concerned or conducted to determine or find the best way to perform a particular job. Method study start from procurement of raw materials and continuous till the final product is delivered. 

The objective of method studies are

1. To minimise the cost of production.

2. To maximize the quality and customer satisfaction.
