Frederick Winslow Taylor (March 20, 1856 – March 21, 1915) was an American mechanical engineer. He was widely known for his methods to improve industrial efficiency. He was one of the first management consultants.

Industrial efficiency depends on the efficiency of worker and efficiency of worker depend on training development and selection. 
According to this principal Taylor advocates efficiency of workers should be taken care right from the selection process and time to time workers should be imparted training and development programs.
